Next piece of the puzzle

Something bugged me, but I did not know what. I had this restless feeling that a thought was knocking at the door of my consciousness. I kept mulling it over fruitlessly, feeling that I missed something important.

I have had this feeling since bringing mr. Damus back to Mehatoor for leg repair. As he could not walk, he was confined to the Indagatrix's small medbay. We have been talking and playing chess while speculating on the cause of the malfunctions.

This morning, as I was taking a shower, I suddenly caught the thought that I was chasing and that had been lurking in the corner of my mind. It had nothing to do with the malfunctions -we are not closer to solving that mystery- but it was about the riddle. And about chess, the ancient board game we were playing. The "dark king's bishop" in the garden is a reference to the fact that the biosphere is laid out exactly as a chess board. In that game, there are black and white pieces, and there are kings and their bishops.

For black, the king's bishop is placed on square F8.

That is where we should go and search.
