The Triglavians have decided to destroy their Drifter Nexus! This structure consists of stick-like elements that can arrange themselves in various configurations. They have been seen in "urchin" formation, and also loosely scattered around in the nexus storm at the center of the Drifter hive, and following the conquest of the Drifter wormholes, they have been arranged in needle-like structures. The Empire has been peacefully studying it for a while now.
We still do not know their precise function. Perhaps the Drifters did not build them, but found them - I think it might be Talocan technology, related to the weaving of Anoikis, and repurposed by the Drifters to control wormhole space and connections.
And now, the Triglavians blew theirs up. We had observers in place, and they released a before/after picture:
A large fleet of Triglavians, aided by their Khybernaut lapdogs, needed an hour of uninterrupted heavy fire to destroy it. A close-up near the top reveals the extent of the damage:
Some of the "sticks" seem to be broken in smaller fragments, and there are all sorts of debris scattered about. Other components appear to be intact, simply dislodged from where they were. Just before the explosion, the structure showed a lot of sparks or lightning across its surface.
Why would they blow up this structure? Its destruction caused a major disruption in the drifter hyperspace network, according to many observatories. They claim the structure was somehow antagonistic to the stability of the Pochven region, but I do not quite believe them. It may be part of a Triglavian plot to use it against us, against humanity.
We must never forget that they do not care about us - they do not share our values of caring for the weak and misfortunate. Thank God that the Order of Saint Tetrimon stood their ground - due to their efforts the Triglavians were forced to evacuate their Minor Victory systems in the Empire! This should be a cause for more celebrations, and yet it is overshadowed by this vandalism against something they do not understand.
I plan another visit to Sanctified Vidette - the Drifter system captured by the Empire - to see if this had any effect there.
